Privacy Policy

searchenginebasics.it.com is an education site. We teach people how search engines work, and we built this policy so you know exactly what we collect when you visit, why we collect it, and what control you have over it.

What We Collect

Analytics data. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people read, how long they stay, and which device or browser they’re using. This includes your approximate location (city or region level, never a precise address), the pages you visit on our site, the site you came from, and standard technical details like your browser type and screen size. Google Analytics assigns your browser a cookie so it can recognize repeat visits during a session.

Cookies. Beyond analytics, we use a small number of cookies to remember basic preferences, like whether you’ve dismissed our cookie notice. We don’t use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we don’t sell any cookie data to third parties.

Contact form submissions. If you reach out through our contact page, we collect your name, email address, and whatever message you send us. We use this only to reply to you. We don’t add contact form submissions to any marketing list automatically.

Newsletter signups. If you choose to subscribe to updates from us, we collect your email address and store it with our email service provider so we can send you new content. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email we send, or by emailing us directly.

We do not collect payment information, government identification, or any sensitive personal data, because this site doesn’t sell anything and doesn’t require account creation.

Third Party Tools We Use

Tool

Purpose

What It Collects

Google Analytics

Traffic and behavior reporting

Pages visited, session length, approximate location, device type

Email service provider

Newsletter delivery

Email address, open and click activity on newsletter emails

Each of these tools has its own privacy policy governing how they process data on our behalf. We encourage you to review Google’s privacy policy directly if you want details on how Google Analytics handles data across the sites it tracks.

Your Rights

If you’re located in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request that we correct or delete it, and object to certain types of processing, including analytics tracking. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

If you’re a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we’ve collected about you, request deletion of that information, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We want to be direct about this: we do not sell personal information, and we never have.

Regardless of where you live, you can ask us at any time what data we hold about you and request that we remove it.

How Long We Keep Data

Google Analytics data is retained according to Google’s own retention settings, which we’ve configured to the shortest practical window. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry, typically no more than twelve months. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.

Managing Cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings menu. If you block cookies, the site will still work, though some preference settings may not be remembered between visits. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking specifically using Google’s browser opt out tool, which is freely available from Google’s own site.

Children’s Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Changes to This Policy

Search engines change, and so do the tools we use to run this site. When we make a meaningful change to how we collect or use data, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. We recommend checking back occasionally if you have ongoing concerns about your data.

Contact Us

If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights described above, reach out through our contact page or email us directly at support@searchenginebasics.it.com.
